COVID-19, quarantine, stay at home orders, who would have ever thought?
How are you handling this new state of affairs? I admit, some days are better than others in our home.
Some days I feel stress free and enjoying all the time with my kids.
Some days I feel the boredom, fear, and claustrophobia of rarely leaving home. This has been especially true now that our temps are over 100 in Arizona and going outside is less frequent and less enjoyable.
At least while we are home, I can take advantage of some amazing money-saving secrets.
And even better, I can share my money saving secrets with you!
Check these ways to save money during the stay at home orders and beyond.

Money-Saving Secret One: Meal Prep with Once a Month Meals
Try your hand at meal prep and freezer meals while everyone is stuck at home.
This is a great time to get used to prepping freezer meals and trying new ones while everyone can help out. When you get the hang of it, it will save you tons of time and money after you head back to work and school in the Fall (crossing my fingers we will be going back in the Fall!).
Meal planning and prep will reduce your grocery budget overall, and it will be a huge time saver and keep you from eating out when you get busier and are away from home again.
Money-Saving Secret Two: Use Cash Back Sites for Shopping Online
With all the shopping online, be sure you are registered for one or both of the following cash back programs. They will give you cash back for the shopping you are doing anyway!
Save up your rewards for a special outing when this is all over.
Both sites listed below are great. You simply go to their website to start your shopping through their link, then your purchases will collect cash back through their website. The even bigger bonus, is most coupon codes will work with these too and these sites will often alert you to the coupons before you start your shopping, saving you even more!!
Top Cash Back
I really like this site. I have used it more than Ebates. Sometimes I will go back and forth to find the retailers I am shopping with. I went through Top Cash Back when I bought all my new window coverings from Blinds.com. I earned a nice little chunk of bonus cash back. Top Cash Back even recommended other retailers which helped me find the best price on the blinds for my home.
Rakutan (which used to be Ebates)
If you join and spend $30 through one of the links, you will get a $30 sign up bonus added to your payout account! Right now, there is many stores participating in a 15% cash back reward. These opportunities would provide a great way to get a free or cheap Mother’s Day or Father’s Day gift. Click the link and check it out.
These sites never cost you anything, but they give you money back on purchases you are planning to make anyway.
Money-Saving Secret Three: Start Saving and Investing Automatically as You Shop
Another way to save money while you are shopping for groceries or other items to be delivered or picked up, is by signing up for Acorns.
Acorns is a great way to save the extra change from every purchase. For example, you spend $34.72 at the grocery store. Acorns will add it to the nearest dollar, $35 and put the extra change, $0.28, into an investment savings account for you. This not only gets you saving painlessly, but the amount is deposited in an investment account so that it will grow for you.
Acorns currently offers three, low cost options for your account. The easiest and cheapest is only $1 a month, but with the automated investment of your spare change, you should make much more than the $12 paid out, by the end of the year.
There are also options for a retirement account that will take advantage of the tax savings of an IRA and an option for an online checking account without fees. These each cost slightly more per month.
Use this link to sign up as a VIP and get a $10 bonus deposited to your account after your first investment!! You can check out the site and options they have here, Acorns, but the VIP link is what will get you the $10 bonus if you sign up through it.
