Everything is Awesome . . . when you are at LEGOLAND! My kids and I believe this wholeheartedly. LEGOLAND has become one of our favorite amusement parks.
As a single mom, I am always looking for a place that works well for my family, the best place to travel as a single parent.
I think LEGOLAND is the perfect vacation for single parents and here are my top 10 reasons why.
1 Closes Early!
This is number one for me, for sure. I love the fact that LEGOLAND’s hours are limited. The times of year we usually go (Fall, and I will explain why later) it closes at 5 pm most nights. That is wonderful for a single mom who can take her kids for a fun take. Manage ALL the things that day and not leave exhausted as we stay till midnight or some other horribly late hour to be sure we get every bit of fun in while the park is open!
During the summer the park does stay open till 9 pm so you can park hop, enjoy the water park, and still ride the rides in the main park. It would allow for more fun despite the crowds, but it still closes at a time that gets you to the hotel at a decent hour…every single mom’s dream!

2 Kids can ride with a sibling that is 48”
I have never loved downhill rollercoasters. I am so happy that I can let my 8 and 10-year-old go on rides like the LEGOLAND Technic without me. For a mom or dad that doesn’t love the downhill rollercoasters, this is a top reason. I am perfectly happy to take pictures and videos of the kids riding as I enjoy from the sidelines.
3 They offer Parent Swap for Rides
A great feature of LEGOLAND is the option for Parent Swap. How this works, is after waiting in line with your kids, you simply let the operator know that you will be doing a Parent Swap. The parent can leave one kid at the head of the line while they ride with one child. After the first ride, the parent can stay on the ride and swap out the kids. This is the best part if you are a parent that loves riding, you get twice as many rides for every line you stand in!
4 The LEGOLAND hotel rooms are made for single parents
The last thing I want to do after a long day in an amusement park is to go back to the hotel room and share a bed with my kid that rolls around in their sleep and keeps me up all night. At the LEGOLAND Hotel and Castle Hotel, the suites have a small separate room for the kids! This is my dream come true. They have their own tv that plays LEGO movies and cartoons and beds to accommodate up to three children. This leaves the king-size bed all for me!
5 Can bring a small cooler inside the park
One thing all parents understand is that kids are ALWAYS hungry! If you want to keep from going broke while visiting an amusement park, choose one that allows you to carry in snacks and water. LEGOLAND is a prime example. Legoland allows a small cooler, no bigger than 12” x 10”, inside the park. It can contain small snacks and water which will help you have more money for LEGOs which will thrill the kids!

6 Have so much more than rides
LEGOLAND does have rides, but I love the interactive play and creativity options that the park offers. If you take your kids, 9 and older, to the Imagination Zone of the park to LEGO MINDSTORMS, you can sign them up for a hands-on class later in the day. Make sure to get there early for this if you are interested. Other places that your kids can build and explore with other LEGO enthusiasts are DUPLO Play in the Imagination Zone, LEGO Life + Build and Test in Fun Town, and Coast Guard Build-a-Boat in Miniland USA.
7 Unlimited Digital Photo Pass
Traveling as a single mom leaves me with very little pictures of myself with my kids when we are on vacation unless you count the very popular selfie! I love that at LEGOLAND, I can pay one price and get photos of all three of us all day long. You can purchase the pass for a single day or multiple days at the park. When you do so, be sure to get all your photos added to your digital album throughout the stay.
8 Included in Kids Go Free October
LEGOLAND is included in our favorite time of year, Kids Go Free October in San Diego. Each kid gets in free with a paid adult. This sure helps reduce the vacation cost for any parent. I mean, free kids’ tickets, what could be better than FREE?!

9 Everything is Awesome
Honestly, for me, my mood lifts as soon as we get to the gate in the morning and hear them playing that tune. It reminds me that everything is awesome and I feel better the entire day. Single parents are often juggling a lot and dealing with a lot of stress. LEGOLAND is a place you can leave that at the door and head in for an awesome day with your family.
10 Churros and Chocolate!
I mean, Churros and Chocolate! Ok, so maybe this isn’t specific to single parents, but what mom doesn’t love chocolate? And what dad doesn’t want a thick crunchy churro? This is one of our favorite treats in the park and after you try them, you will see exactly why they made it in my top 10 list (why they will most likely make it in any of my top lists for LEGOLAND, ha ha!)
